Waste Reduction Week - October 17-23, 2005

Too Good to Waste Logo

In celebration of Waste Reduction Week 2005, Alberta Environment is encouraging Alberta Businesses to preserve our resources and reduce their waste.

Alberta businesses and institutions account for 40% of the waste going into municipal landfills. Construction and demolition accounts for another 27% of this waste.

Waste Reduction Week 2005 provides an opportunity for Alberta businesses to learn more about waste reduction and how it can help improve their profits!!!

Fact: Waste reduction doesn't have to be difficult or expensive.

Alberta Environment's Waste Reduction Week website will introduce you to several business champions who are reducing waste profitably in our province. View our champions and their stories by visiting Business Champions. These waste reduction leaders will share their stories and provide you with great tips for reducing waste in your business.

The Alberta Environment website also provides a list of great “getting started” Waste Reduction Tips and an extensive list of Contacts and Resources to help you along the way.

At Alberta Environment, we are celebrating the path to reaching our waste reduction goal. If you are an Alberta business committed to reducing your waste, Alberta Environment would like to hear from you! Submissions will be posted online over the course of the year. For further information, or to submit an article on your waste reduction practices, please contact: Env.Education@gov.ab.ca using the subject line "Waste Reduction Success Story".
