The Clean Air Strategic Alliance (CASA) is a non-profit consensus-based association of senior representatives from government, industry and non-government organizations (including health and environmental groups) who have committed to developing and applying a comprehensive air quality management system for Alberta.

What programs does the Clean Air Strategic Alliance (CASA) offer?

Anyone can bring an air quality issue to the attention of CASA by filing a brief statement of concern/opportunity. Project teams are formed when the board of directors agrees, by consensus, that CASA should address an issue. To date, some of the projects/programs afforded by CASA are the:

  • Development of a conceptual greenhouse gas management framework for the electricity sector.
  • Current air quality monitoring and reporting, provided in conjunction with Alberta Environment, and available on-line.
  • CleanBus Project to test Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF) to evaluate their effectiveness in reducing transportation emissions, especially within the winter months.
  • On-line education and outreach clearinghouse for research and information retrieval related to air quality topics.
  • Organization and/or hosting of science symposiums and conferences on air quality topics.
