Alberta Environment conducted a business needs analysis to review current land monitoring programs, gaps, needs and partnership opportunities. The report also makes key recommendation on integration of information systems and products, development of monitoring programs based on shared outcomes, and development of business and collaborative processes to facilitate land monitoring programs.

The main objective of this study was to determine the applicability of existing precision farming grain yield mapping technology to statistically assess crop yields at reclaimed industrial sites; and to evaluate the potential of grain yield mapping technology to identify and map crop yield variability and distribution at reclaimed industrial sites.

Effective September 1, 2009, the revised Soil Monitoring Directive (2009) must be used to conduct monitoring and management of soil contamination at approved plants in Alberta where such requirements are identified under an EPEA approval. Proposals and reports approved by AENV before that date may still use the 1996 Soil Monitoring Directive.
